Support for Britney Spears is being displayed by Pink.
During the Detroit leg of her extensive Summer Carnival Tour on Wednesday night, the lyrics of her 2001 single “Don’t Let Me Get Me” were modified by the pop star in order to pay tribute to Spears, who is currently undergoing a divorce from Sam Asghari after 14 months of marriage.
The lyrics were altered as Pink sang, “Tired of being compared to sweet Britney Spears,” introducing a subtle alteration to the original lyrics of the song. (“Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears / She’s so pretty, that just ain’t me.”)

In a fan-recorded video circulated on social media, there were audible expressions of affection from the audience as Pink performed the revised lyrics.
Pink has consistently supported Spears in various interviews, silencing any speculations of discord between the two artists. Following a highly publicized legal struggle, Spears was released from her conservatorship in November of the previous year after nearly 14 years. The “Gimme More” vocalist was placed under the guardianship in 2008, which granted her father, Jamie Spears, authority over her life and finances.
“I have been accused of targeting Britney in ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me,’ but I’ve always seen myself as an older sister to her,” Pink conveyed to People magazine earlier this year. “I am fiercely protective of her, and she is genuinely the kindest person in the world.”
In a similar vein, Pink expressed comparable feelings during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2021. In conversation with Andy Cohen, she shared her regret for not having reached out more to Spears during their earlier careers.
“I experienced sadness over not being aware of her situation back then,” Pink remarked. “Feeling helpless or powerless is something I dislike, and I can only imagine the emotions she went through. She could have benefited from some support. The media subjected her to intense scrutiny, while the paparazzi’s actions were disgraceful. I wish I had extended my hand to offer her a comforting hug.”

Pink and Spears previously assumed the roles of Roman gladiators in a 2004 Pepsi commercial, alongside Beyoncé. Presently, Spears’ discography serves as the foundation for Broadway’s fairy-tale musical “Once Upon a One More Time.” Meanwhile, both Pink and Beyoncé are receiving enthusiastic acclaim for their individual concert tours.
